Paul Motian doit être heureux de l’hommage qui lui est ainsi rendu.

Heureux aussi car ce disque est l’histoire d’une conversation, d’une succession gourmande de questions et de réponses immédiates ; malgré l’évidente émotion née de l’absence cruelle de Paul Motian, c’est la joie qui l’emporte, elle s’exprime dans la lumière de thèmes qu’on devine comme de vibrants appels et dans la ferveur des échanges. Les couleurs vespérales dont se pare l'album, reflets mêlés d'une joie d'être ensemble en musique et du profond respect pour celui qui l'a inspirée, touchent au cœur et maintiennent longtemps une vibration essentielle.  "In A Suggestive Way" s’écoute, dans ses moindres détails, pour chacune de ses nuances, pour son art de la conversation entre gens de bonne compagnie.
